Pair of English Bilston enamel trinket boxes retailed by Cartier, each with hinged lids and gilt metal mounts. One example commemorates the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence, featuring black and white transfer decoration with state seals, interior American eagle and "177-1976" inscription, and marked "Cartier... Bilston Enamel Made in England" to the base. The second features a cobalt blue ground with a hot air balloon scene, with interior inscription referencing a March 1784 Strasbourg ascent, marked "Cartier New York" with a Battersea/Bilston enamel mark to the underside. Both pieces are in good condition with light wear to mounts and bases consistent with age and handling. Please see photos for additional details.
