Carved stone sculpture titled “Dancing Seal” by Inuit artist Bart Hanna of Iglulik, Nunavut. The seal is shown upright with flippers extended and tail curled. The piece is carved from white stone, likely marble or calcite, and is signed “Bart Hanna / Iglulik” on the underside. Sculpture retains its original early Igloo Tag (circa 1970s to 1980s) on the underside, certifying it as authentic Inuit art. Sculpture is in good condition.  | Please see photos for additional details.  | | ABOUT THE ARTIST: Bart Hanna Kappianaq, born around 1948 near Alanarjuk Lake and based in Igloolik, Nunavut, is a well-known Inuit sculptor from the Qikiqtaaluk region. He began carving as a child, learning from his father, and later developed his skills while recovering from illness in Ontario, where he met and worked with other Inuit artists. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
