19th century engraving titled "The Cat," after the original painting by Willem van Mieris, and engraved by William Finden. The detailed domestic scene features two woman preparing poultry and seafood in a kitchen interior, with vegetables, game and a basket of apples. Below the countertop a cat gazes upward toward the food. The print is labeled "MIERIS PINXIT" and "ENGRAVED by W. FINDEN" at the lower margin. The piece is double matted and framed under glass in a wood frame. The reverse features ownership inscription from Prof. Simon of Munich and a label from Galerie Schoninger. The print shows age toning and foxing and the frame has minor scratches and surface wear consistent with age. See photos for additional details. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
