Finely crafted 19th-century Japanese Kyoto Satsuma earthenware vase, marked on the underside with a Kyoto Dai Nippon (Great Japan) inscription and artist’s mark. The vase features an enameled and gilded floral and butterfly motif on a cobalt to cream ombre ground, highlighted with raise moriage detailing throughout. The decorative twin handles are designed in a stylized fan form, and the neck display gilt scrollwork with polychrome accents. The piece exhibits traditional kintsugi-style metal staple repairs and visible cracks around the flared rim.
