Matched pair of early 19th century silhouette portraits depicting a gentleman and a lady in profile, rendered in black against pale tan and green backgrounds. Each silhouette is housed in a gilt oval frame with beaded and foliate molded decoration, set into wooden backs with original hanging rings. The reverse of the lady portrait bears a handwritten inscription “Ann Downs born in Lebanon, Maine August 20 1799 Died August 1890 Married Eben Legro Jan 9 1825.” Both frames show wear, surface toning, and minor imperfections consistent with age. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
